When the Pipes Play

Processional

The piper leads the casket into the service or plays as the family enters, marking the formal beginning of the farewell. A measured, solemn march accompanies this moment with the gravity and respect it deserves.

During the Service

At a reflective point in the service, a single lament fills the room. This is often the most deeply felt moment of the day — a pause where the music gives voice to what everyone in the room is carrying in their hearts.

Recessional

As the service concludes and mourners begin to depart, the pipes play a gentle farewell. This closing melody offers a sense of peace and quiet resolve, guiding everyone from the service with grace.

Graveside

At the burial site, the piper plays a final tribute as the casket is laid to rest. Often this is a single tune — Amazing Grace, or another chosen by the family — played at a respectful distance, allowing the notes to carry across the grounds as a last farewell.
